A friend of mine once told me "Cheap is good but free is better." Everyone loves a freebie. So where on the internet can someone go for truly free products with no strings attached? Using www.thefreesite.com as a search portal, four web links were tested to see if their freebie offers were truly free or if it was a gimmick to get web users to their respective site.
Basic products were requested, that is, products that both men and women could request and find useful. Those products were Advil PM, Downy fabric softener, Degree deodorant for women, and coffee.
The first item was Advil PM from Wal-Mart. True to their word, after filling out an online request form which provided Wal-Mart themselves, not a third party, with basic information on where to send the Advil product, the item was promised to arrive in the mail within four weeks. People requesting the free sample were asked to fill out an optional questionnaire about the product after sampling Advil PM. An email address is needed to fill out the questionnaire.
The second item resulting in a successful free sample request was Degree Women Ultra Clear from degreedeodorant.com. This product can be requested by either women or men to give to their wives or girlfriends. Once again, without any promotional gimmicks in the way of the product request, a free sample of Degree Women will appear in the mail between four to six weeks. Users are required to fill out an online request form asking for their name, address, email address, gender, and an optional request for their date of birth and friend referral.
A successful request for free coffee occurred when filling out an online form at freecoffeesite.com. When arriving at the home page, users are greeted by a letter from domain host, Scott. Scott says that he's tried coffees from all over the world. No matter how good the coffee company says their coffee is, no matter if the coffee is free or paid for, Scott says, taste is the most important part of the coffee experience. After filling out another online request form providing freecoffeesite.com with your name, address, email address for order confirmation, an optional phone number and a choice of two coffee products to sample, the request will appear in the mail "soon." The samples to choose from were: 3 in 1 Cafe, Classic Black, Coffee with Ginseng, Coffee Mocha, and Creamy Hot Cocoa. My selections were the Classic Black and Coffee with Ginseng. An order form is included in all free sample requests in case people want to purchase more coffee in the future.
Unfortunately, a request for free Downy fabric softener was not so easy at freefabricsofteners.com. After given the opportunity to choose from four scents of Downy Simple Pleasures by first providing an email address, users are required to signup for one sponsor offer. Those offers include: Blockbuster Online, Columbia House DVD membership, BMG Music Service, Discover credit card, Video Professor software training, or two dozen other offers.
After trying free sample offers from four separate websites for free coffee, deodorant, Advil, and fabric softener, three of them proved to be true to their word with no obligation or any hassles. This proves that some companies are willing to give out free samples of their products in order to generate business, but make sure your samples are truly free.
